Vietnam rice to arrive in Cebu – NFA

THE National Food Authority (NFA) in Cebu will start receiving 54,000 metric tons or 1,080,000 bags of imported rice from Vietnam by the second week of May.
The imported rice will augment the NFA's buffer stock during the months with lean rice harvests.
Aside from the imported rice, 300,000 bags of local rice are scheduled to be shipped to Cebu from Southern Tagalog.
This rice buffer stock will be distributed to other Visayas provinces like Samar and Leyte.
The rice importation is part of the existing rice purchase agreement between the Philippine Government and Vietnam.
