Kris Aquino offers to return to Cebu, promote island if Davide wins
KRIS Aquino, President Benigno Aquino III's sister, wants to make Bantayan Island, Cebu the next Boracay.
Kris, a TV host and actress, made the promise to Liberal Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate Hilario “Junjun” Davide III during her visit in Cebu yesterday.
“Let's make it your Boracay because it is so beautiful,” she said, adding that it is time to promote Bantayan, not just Mactan. She called Davide, “Guv.”
Kris has been campaigning for LP candidates in different parts of the country. She said she discovered Bantayan during a 2010 LP campaign trail.
During a press conference yesterday, Kris said she will return to Bantayan after June to feature its attractions in her show Kris TV.
“Pagbalik ko dito, ikaw (Davide) magto-tour sa akin ha, tapos jetski tayo at mag-banana boat (When I return, you will give me a tour and we’ll ride the jet ski and banana boat),” she added.
She pointed out that her show has 11 million viewers worldwide, who would see the feature.
Kris arrived in Cebu with LP’s reelectionist Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero and Grace Poe, a Senate aspirant. They endorsed the candidacy of Davide and his running mate, Acting Gov. Agnes Magpale.
Shyness
Kris advised Davide to get rid of his shyness. She said Davide stayed in the background even while campaigning for his gubernatorial bid in the 2010 elections with her.
“It's your time to shine, Guv. This is your time to shine. Seize the moment,” she said.
Escudero and Poe, on the other hand, vowed to implement projects in Cebu if they get
elected.
Escudero said he will allot funds to develop and improve district hospitals in Cebu and provide scholarships to less privileged students.
Free lunch
Poe said she will fund centers for children in the barangays and give free lunch to public elementary students.
Kris also revealed that she plans to run for mayor or governor in 2016 if given the chance. But she would still has to consult her family.
Kris said she is a registered voter of Makati City but she does not stand a chance against the Binays. She might run in Tarlac instead.
But before that, she will get a masters degree in public administration. “I want to have the credentials. I don't want to run because I am the daughter of Ninoy and Cory or the sister of PNoy,” she said.
