CCCI spearheads ‘Cebu Run for the Rivers’

CEBU, Philippines - As part of the Cebu Business Month celebration, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) will spearhead the first ever "Cebu Run for the Rivers" on June 2 starting at the SM City-Cebu Northwing grounds.
“To restore the river systems and creeks in Metro Cebu” is the main theme of the ground-breaking event, which is also in support of the government's “Sagip Ilog” program that aims to improve the water quality of priority river systems in the community particularly the five river systems in Cebu namely Bulacao, Buhisan, Guadalupe, Mahiga and Lahug.
It is a collaborative effort of the CCCI through its Environment Sustainability Committee together with the Cebu Academe Network, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 7, Cebu City government and among other NGOs and business companies in Cebu.
This year’s marathon is focused on the rehabilitation of the Mahiga River. Thus, proceeds of this fun run shall be used as seed fund to improve the said river.
Business sector, non-government and civil society organizations, the academe, other environmentalists and people living near the five rivers are encouraged to join in this run for a cause.
The categories and its respective registration fees are as follows: P250 for 5K, P350 for 10K and P500 for 21K.
