UV helps former players find PBA D-League teams

THE University of the Visayas Green Lancers management is not leaving the careers of their players in limbo after their tour of duty with the school. The Lancers head coach made sure his players will get the chance to be noticed by scouts from the PBA by signing up with its developmental league. “We also feel obliged to make sure our players be given equal opportunity to become a PBA player. That why I used my influence among the teams in Manila so that I can help the players play in the PBA D-League,” Felix Belano told Sun.Star Cebu. Last week, Rene Saycon left to join the Cagayan Rising Stars and he will be joined by Jerome Silva, who is scheduled to leave Cebu this week. “Nag-una na si Saycon didto then moapas si Silva this week. The Cagayan Rising Starts already had (Edrian) Lao and (Harlow) Villanil and they have Andrew (Avillanoza) in their reserve list,” Belano said. Last year, Belano and Cagayan Rising Stars coaching staff led by Alvin Pua and his two consultants Francis Rodriguez and Arturo Valenzona agreed to send UV products to the PBA D-League team. Lao, Villanil and Harold Cincoflores were the first to be shipped. However, aside from Cagayan Stars, UV players may soon see action with expansion team Sta. Lucia and powerhouse N-LEX Express team.
