Struggling Cobras eye first win in FilOil Cup

THE Southwestern University-M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala will once again shoot for the elusive win as their campaign in the FilOil Flying V Premier Cup continues today in The Arena in San Juan City in Metro Manila. The Cobras will play San Sebastian College-Recoletos Stags at 12:45, and will go for their first win in four outings. SWU-M. Lhuillier seemed to have lost its toughness in the past two games after putting up a gallant stand in its 77-72 loss to UAAP heavyweights Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) Blue Eagles last April 13. Last Wednesday, the Cobras ran smack into the superior game of the University of the East Red Warriors and lost, 81-62, before getting handed their breakfast, lunch and supper in a 37-point rout 98-61 by the De La Salle University Green Archers. SWU is 0-3 against UAAP member schools and today will be its first time to meet an NCAA team. The Stags are no pushovers as they also pack firepower that could even be better than any UAAP member schools. Of the five remaining games, SWU will play four more NCAA member-schools and one more UAAP squad. Aside from the Stags, the Cobras will face the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates on April 24, the College of San Juan de Letran Knights on April 26, Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals on May 1 and the University of Sto. Tomas on May 4.
