Soco No deals between my firm, Capitol

HE has no plans to enter into a contract for manpower services with the Capitol again. Businessman and vice gubernatorial candidate Glenn Soco emphasized this in response to claims by acting Gov. Agnes Magpale that he's running for office because of “vested interests.” “In her sorties she would say that our company has lousy service," Soco said in a press conference. He showed a copy of an invitation to his company from the Capitol's Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) dated March 2013 for the supply of manpower services for medical and para-medical and allied services of the province. "Why would they invite us now? If our record was awful based on what she has been telling in her sorties, then, why would they invite us now in their bidding?" he asked. "I promised before that I won't engage in business with the Capitol... We tried it before and we have served the provincial government to the best of our abilities. We have maintained a clean track record," Soco said. Soco said he has no interest in negotiating a work agreement with the Capitol after Magpale announced that the provincial government is having cash flow province in paying its suppliers. Soco’s family-owned manpower services agency provided janitors and medical personnel for district hospitals and various Capitol offices. The contract expired in 2010 and was not extended by Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia. Garcia ran in tandem with Soco under One Cebu in the 2010 elections where Soco lost to Gregorio Sanchez Jr. Soco is still contesting the election results. He is is running again for vice governor under the Partido ng Masa Pilipino. /Carmel Loise Matus
