PNoy hits Gwen, urges Cebuanos to vote LP bets

ELECTING the Liberal Party-Cebu's (LP-Cebu) candidates to the Capitol would mean better services and projects for the province, President Benigno Aquino III told Bogo City residents. In a speech before 15,000 residents at the Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports and Cultural Center in Bogo City, the President criticized Governor Garcia for failing to improve the city's Verallo Memorial Hospital. As a result, patients have to be transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) instead in Cebu City, a three hour drive from Bogo City for confinement. President Aquino then reiterated that while the national government has no jurisdiction over the Verallo Memorial Hospital, his administration can do something about it if Bogo City residents vote his local allies to office. "But if we have good coordination with the leaders in the province the problem would be easily solved," he said in Filipino. LP-Cebu standard bearer Hilario Davide III and his running mate acting Cebu Gov. Agnes Magpale are running against Garcia's younger brother Rep. Pablo John Garcia and his running mate Boboy Durano for governor and vice governor respectively. During One Cebu's rally at Sogod town yesterday, Pablo John again refuted reports that Boboy Durano was paralyzed, saying that he was resting at home. Standing in for Boboy during the rally was his uncle, Danao City vice mayoral candidate Jesus “Don” Durano. At the LP rally in Bogo City, Aquino lauded the Cebuanos for helping lower crime volume in the province from 8,000 in 2010 to 5,700 cases last year. President Aquino also announced major projects lined up for the province in the coming years. These include the ongoing P702 million Carmen Bulk Water Supply Project which will supply 35,000 cubic meters of water per day to Metro Cebu, a Naga City power substation costing P1.3 billion and the P1.4 billion Cebu City San Remigio road improvement project covering 7.56 km. /Carmel Loise Matus, Correspondent with Correspondent Jose Santino S.
